7 Ways To Do Disney World Without Kids
When most people think of a trip to Walt Disney World, they don’t usually think of a couples trip — especially if you have children. My husband and I look to get away at least once a year and often end up at Disney. It’s a very different vibe. We get to do what we want to do, whether it’s staying up late, taking it slow, or trying something new.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to do Disney, without kids:
1. EPCOT Festivals
It seems that no matter the time of year, there is a festival happening at EPCOT. EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts is scheduled from Jan. 8 through Feb. 22, the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is scheduled from March 3 to July 5, EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is scheduled from July 15 to Nov. 20, and EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is from Nov. 26-Dec. 30. Here you can take your time walking and experiencing food, drinks, and experiences from all over the world. We take advantage of Park Hopper to experience EPCOT on more than one visit at EPCOT.
2. Enchanted Night Out
Disney has great options for night life. Many of the resorts have bars and lounges onsite. One of our favorites is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. You can experience handcrafted cocktails themed after the South Pacific and may even experience a volcano eruption with the Krakatoa Punch or spark a fire with an Uh-Oa! This enchanted tiki bar takes walk up reservations daily. We like to put our name on the list before dinner at one of the great restaurants at the Polynesian and end our night at Trader Sam’s.
3. Sing me a song
One of the exciting returns to Disney’s nightlife is Jellyrolls and the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk. Jellyrolls is a lively dueling piano bar where a tip and a request to can bring out the greatest crowd favorites. I’ve heard everything from Piano Man to Baby Got Back. Once you’ve sung your heart out, you can walk next door to the Atlantic Dance Hall to dance hits from the 80s, 90s, and today.
4. Dress up for a fancy dinner
Disney has restaurant options for everyone. We love to search for a great steak. Le Cellier at EPCOT and Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club are our absolute favorites. You can even experience the 50th Anniversary Celebration at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! You can even enjoy the rooftop views of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show, Enchantment. The music is piped onto the rooftop and inside of the restaurant.
5. Get fit
For those looking for a healthy activity, the Disney resorts have great running trails. The All-Star resorts are connected by a one mile trail. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has a loop around Lago Dorado. The EPCOT resorts have several trails around Crescent Lake and Barefoot Bay. Fort Wilderness has a 3.1 mile pathway around the resort. Disney’s Grand Floridian and Polynesian Village Resort are connected with Disney’s Wedding Pavilion on the way to Magic Kingdom. The remaining Resorts have pathways near Sassagoula River, Hourglass Lake, and the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.
Another great option is Wellness Wednesdays and Fitness Fridays at Disney Springs. Throughout the month of January, Disney Springs stores such as lululemon, Under Armour, and Fabletics offered classes inYoga and HIIT. You can sign up for future classes as they come available at https://www.disneysprings.com/disney-springs-celebrates-health-and-wellness/.
You can also sign up for runDisney events such as the Walt Disney World Marathon, Disney Princess Half Marathon, runDisney Springtime Surprise, and the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon. You can even sign up for a virtual race and run on the Disney trails together.
6. Experience Disney parks your way – without kids
One of my favorite things to do is to visit the parks. When you’re not tied to kids’ schedules, you can take the parks as fast or as slow as you like. Some adults like to take advantage of those rides with ride heights that the kids can’t experience with you. Enjoy the early morning park entry as resort guests without needing to wrangle a stroller. You can also take things in slower. Stop to enjoy that coffee from Starbucks at a table watching the crowds heading to their rides, pose for pictures in front of the castle, take in the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or spend the day at one of Disney’s fantastic water parks, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon.
7. Resort Only Stay
Our favorite way to experience the resorts as adult only is to do a resort only stay. We stay at a deluxe resort, with an amazing pool and restaurant options, and don’t visit any parks. We enjoy the pools, order quick service meals for breakfast and lunch, and treat ourselves to a fancy dinner. Many of the deluxe resorts have cabanas for rent at their pools. There is no other way to relax without kids than to sit poolside all day.
There are so many ways to experience Disney. These are just a few of our favorites.
