Disney World expands mobile checkout to Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is the latest location at Walt Disney World where you can now use mobile checkout when shopping for merchandise. Mickey’s of Hollywood has been added
Disney kicked off the testing at the World of Disney in Disney Springs and then added the Creations Shop (when it was the former MouseGear) in EPCOT and The Emporium, the largest souvenir shop in the Magic Kingdom.
For those who have not yet used this, it is very convenient, especially if you only have a few items in hand and you are facing long checkout lines. We use it all the time. Once in a while, the app gets a little glitchy after scanning in items, but once you close out of it and open it again (it will retain what’s in your shopping basket) it works well.
The steps to using this are easy, but we do suggest that you already have your My Disney Experience app on your mobile device and make sure it’s up to date if you have an Annual Pass or are a Disney Vacation Club Member.
Once you get to the story you can open up your app, or scan the QR code at one of the numerous areas informing you about mobile checkout. Then take one of the open shopping bags and start shopping.
As you decide to purchase an item, scan it with your phone and place the item in the basket.
When you are done shopping Tap Checkout on the phone and pay. Since Annual Passes are connected to the account if you have one or if your Disney Vacation Club account is connected, you will see your discount.
Then go to one of the areas near the exit that says Mobile Checkout Here. Show the Cast Member your app and let them scan the QR Code to check you out. You can pick up a plastic bag to put your items in. If there is something that is fragile and needs to be wrapped the Cast Member will do that for you.
