2022 Walt Disney World Marathon course maps released

The runner’s digital event guide for the 2022 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is now released, including the course maps for each of the events.
The signature marathon event will take runners through all four theme parks and past the entrance to Blizzard Beach. Runners will get the opportunity to run near two of the four park icons. They will run through Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom and near the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Hollywood Studios. The course does not take them near the Tree of Life, but past Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, and due to the construction runners will not go near Spaceship Earth.
The race weekend is taking place Jan. 6 through Jan. 9, 2022. This marks the return of the in-person event, it was held virtually last year due to the pandemic.

The marathon starts off at 5 a.m. on Jan. 9, 2022, outisde of EPCOT and after a brief run behind the Land pavilion in EPCOT, the course exits that theme park and winds its way winds it way up World Drive toward the Magic Kingdom.
The course got past the Contemporary before heading to the Magic Kingdom entrance. Once entering the Magic Kingdom, the cours goes down Main Street, U.S.A, then toward Tomorrowland, through Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, passing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and then through Cinderella Castle toward Liberty Square, then Adventureland and exiting the Magic Kingdom.
Next is a five-mile trek to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and entering at the rear of the theme park in the Africa section before heading toward Expedition Everest and through Dinoland before exiting the park. After then passing the Disney Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach, runners will go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The course has runners briefly passing the Hollywood Tower Hotel down Sunset Bouelvard and out the entrance. At mile 24 you re-enter EPCOT and run around the World Showcase to the Creations Shop and then exit through the area between Mission Space and Test Track into the parking area and the finish.
The half marathon course wll take the runners through Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. In this race, runners will run the same path as the marathon in Magic Kingdom and get to go near Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. The half marathon takes place Jan. 8 and starts at 5 a.m. as well.
The 5K, taking place Jan. 6, and the 10K, taking place Jan. 7, ll take place in EPCOT.
