FAQ on Disney Genie+ launching at Disney World on Oct. 19
As Walt Disney World guests prepare Disney Genie to launch tomorrow, Oct. 19, there are still plenty of questions on how the new service, as well as the Disney Genie+ paid part, works.

What is Disney Genie+?
Pay an extra $15 per day per ticket for Disney Genie+, and you can use the Lightning Lanes (the former FastPass lanes) to help cut back on how long you will need to wait in line. You need Genie+, to skip lines at more than 40 attractions. There are eight “headliner” attractions you need to purchase separately as part of Individual Attraction Selections.
When can I purchase Disney Genie+?
Starting Oct. 19, you’ll be able to purchase Disney Genie+ service on the day of your visit or purchase as an add-on to a theme park ticket by modifying your existing ticket prior to arrival. You can also purchase new tickets that include Disney Genie+ before your visit.
Can I add Disney Genie+ to my vacation package?
Yes. For example, if you have a 4-day park ticket with your vacation package, you can add Genie+ for all 4 days. But, if you only want it for one or two days, you can not purchase it in advance. You will need to purchase Disney Genie+ each morning of your vacation.
When can I make my first Lightning Lane selection?
Everyone can make their first Lightning Lane selection starting at 7 a.m.
When can I make subsequent Lightning Lane selections?
Once you’ve redeemed your initial selection (or the arrival window has passed), you can make another selection using the app, up to park closing. So, as soon as you tap into the Lightning Lane, you can immediately make another Lightning Lane reservation. There is one change. Let’s say it’s 11 a.m. and the ride you really want to get on doesn’t have a window open until 4 p.m. You can make the 4 p.m. reservation and then two hours after you make that reservation you can make another. So at 1 p.m. you can make another reservation for something between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. or after 4 p.m. You can also change your window.
Can I cancel a Lightning Lane selection?
Yes, you can cancel and choose another time and attraction.
Can I make Lightning Lane selections for my family?
Yes. Everyone linked to a person via their Friends and Family on the My Disney Experience app and have tickets and Genie+ on their accounts can be chosen by an indvidual and all be included in a Lightning Lane selection.
What is Individual Lightning Lanes?
This option involves eight “headliner attractions” that can be purchased by all guests—with or without the purchase of Disney Genie+ service—and lets you choose a time to arrive at the Lightning Lane. You can only purchase two of these each day and they must be purchased one at a time.
Can I purchase Individual Lightning Lane in advance?
No. Individual Attraction Selections will be avallable to purchase the day you are In the park. Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resorts, Shades of Green orthe Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels can purchase lndlvldual atraction selections on the day of starting at 7 a.m. All other guests can purchase at each park’s opening time.
What attractions are part of Individual Lightning Lane selections?
The attractions available for the ‘á la carte’ Lightning Lane include:
Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain
EPCOT: Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Hollywood Studios: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Animal Kingdom:Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
What is the cost of Individual Lightning Lane?
Prices will vary by date, attraction and park. For example, the Lightning Lane entrance to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be $9 per person on Oct. 19 and $11 per person on Oct. 23. As another example, on both those dates, Lightning Lane entrance to Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain will be $7 per person, while Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be $15 per person.
Throughout the year, prices may be lower on some days and higher on others. This option may be purchased at up to two different attractions each day. Check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for current prices and attraction availability.
Can I modify an Individual Lightning Lane?
No. There is no canceling and no rebooking once a selection has been made.
