Disney World’s Star Wars: Rise of Resistance standby line now open

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistancehttps://disneydiary.com/2019/12/why-star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-is-the-true-great-movie-ride/ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has opened its standby line and the wait times this morning have ranged from two to three and a half hours.

This is the first time Disney has paused the use of the virtual queue for this attraction and is using the standby line since the attraction opened in 2019. This does not mean this will be a permanent decision.

“We know our guests love choice and flexibility when planning their time in a theme park—which is why, starting Sept. 23, we will pause the use of virtual queue…,” according to Disney’s original announcement on Sept. 16. Disney is saying that it could potentially bring back the virtual queue at a later date or from time to time.

The change may also be taking place in anticipation of the new Disney Genie digital planning service coming soon to the My Disney Experience App. When this goes into effect guests will have to pay for access to the new Lightning Lanes (taking the place of the FastPass).

For now, the standby line is open and packed. According to various bloggers and guests on social media, the park was jammed this morning at 8:30 a.m. when the park opened. Photos show rope drop lines to get into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge going back to Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.

It should be noted that when Avatar Flight of Passage opened in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom wait times reached up to six hours. But that ride never opened with a virtual queue and was opened pre-pandemic. Today this ride is about an hour wait.
