Disney World’s Star Wars: Rise of Resistance pausing virtual queue
A major change is taking place on one of the most popular attractions on Walt Disney World property. Disney is pausing the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue and will instead revert to a standby line – for now.
This is the first time Disney will be using the standby line for the first time since the attraction opened in 2019.
This change goes into effect on Sept. 23. Through Sept. 20, the virtual queue will still be used.
This does not mean this will be a permanent decision. Disney is saying that it could potentially bring back the virtual queue at a later date or from time to time. During the past month attendance at the park has been significantly lower, allowing the standby line to be used late in the day after all the boarding groups had been called.
The change may also be taking place in anticipation of the new Disney Genie digital planning service coming soon to the My Disney Experience App. When this goes into effect guests will have to pay for access to the new Lightning Lanes (taking the place of the FastPass).
While Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be moving to the standby queue, when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure initially opens it will be using a virtual queue. A standby queue will not be available at opening. The virtual queue will be limited and subject to availability.
