Candlelight Processional returns to Disney World for the holidays
Disney World is bringing back the Candlelight Processional this year, Nov. 26 – Dec. 30, as part of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.
The processional was canceled during last year’s holiday season due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year it will return to the America Gardens Theatre with a live orchestra, cast choir, and celebrity narrator retelling the traditional Christmas story.
Disney is still working on the list of celebrity narrators and details about “Candlelight Processional” Dining Packages. Those announcements should come soon.
Since all these performers – including cast members, musicians, singers, and narrators – will be required to be fully vaccinated, this year Disney is not planning to host choirs from different community groups and schools. Instead, the cast member choir will be expanded. Disney hopes to bring the guest choirs back next year.
“Candlelight Processional” is a long-standing Disney Parks tradition, dating back to 1958 at Disneyland park. Walt Disney World guests have enjoyed the annual “Candlelight Processional” since 1971, initially at Magic Kingdom and since 1994 at EPCOT.
