R2-D2 is added to Disney Fab 50 Character Collection

The first Star Wars character has been added to the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection coming to Walt Disney World for its 50th anniversary.

Disney Imagineers Ann Morrow Johnson and Scott Trowbridge, who are now working on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser set to debut in 2022, announced that R2-D2 will be among the 50 golden statues that will be placed around all four theme parks during the 18-month  “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” that kicks off on Oct. 1.

R2-D2 will be seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

• Lumiere and Cogsworth
• Daisy Duck
• Winnie the Pooh and Piglet
• Edna Mode
