As construction continues on the interior of the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster continues at EPCOT, the exterior plaza is under construction.
For those heading to EPCOT on the monorail, make sure that you look left when entering the park and you will see all of the work taking place.
First, let’s take a look at the concept art for the exterior that was released a few years ago.
Now, let’s take a look at the work taking place for the exterior.
Above, you can see where the base is being built for the spaceship that will be placed as the centerpiece of the new plaza.
The new attraction takes place inside the “Galaxarium,” a planetarium-like exhibition that explores the similarities and mysteries of the formation of Earth’s galaxy and Xandar. When learning more about the treasures of Xandar, the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive, and off you go on a different kind of coaster ride.
Touted as what will be one of the longest indoor roller coasters, you are launched backward. The storytelling coaster then rotates 360 degrees to focus your attention on the action as it appears.
On the right side of the photo above, you can see walkways to what will become the Play! Pavilion has been torn up a construction takes place.
No specific date has been announced for the opening of the attraction, but there are some rumors that it would be in late 2022.
