Disneyland announces details, costs for new Magic Key annual passholder program

Disneyland’s new version of its Annual Passhodler Program, called Magic Key, will have four different tiers, ranging from an annual cost of $399 to $1,399.

“We are pleased to introduce the Magic Key program, a new, guest-centric offering that will deliver choice, flexibility and value for park admission, special access to unique experiences, valuable saving opportunities and so much more,” Disney announced on the Disney Parks Blog.

There will be four options of Magic Key passes. The cheapest option will only be available for Southern California residents. Each level’s perks will also contain various degrees of how many park reservations can be made at once, block out dates and discounts.

The one, pardon the pun, key behind all of this is that reservation based admission is sticking around and will be around for a while.

Purchasing a Magic Key Pass

The magic Key pass will go on sale starting August 25, 2021 (no earlier than 10 a.m. PT). Guests will be able to use their pass immediately and make a theme park reservation that same day.

Guests will be able to purchase and manage their Magic Key pass through Disneyland.com and the Disneyland app, where they will be able to access an interactive admission calendar for their pass type to view reservation availability and book their theme park reservations.

Those who purchase their Magic Keys with the first 66 days (to celebrate 66 years of Disneyland Resort), guests will receive a special welcome package that will include unique items such as a premium branded pin, celebratory button, magnet, and more. Magic Key holders who enter Disneyland park will also be celebrated with access to a limited-time experience at Starcade in Tomorrowland (which begins on Sept. 1), where they can enjoy charging stations, a special photo opportunity, and other fun surprises.

In addition, Disneyland says there will be a variety of Magic Key holder benefits to enjoy throughout the year – including:

• Magic Key terrace: A re-imagined reservation-based lounge just for Magic Key holders and their friends and family
• Magic Key Holder Month: A month-long celebration of Magic Key holders
• Special Experiences & Collectibles: Access to unique experiences and collectible keepsakes designed with you in mind—including special offerings during festivals.
• First Access Opportunities: Be among the first to have the opportunity to access exciting new offerings at the Disneyland Resort throughout the year, including select new merchandise collections
• Downtown Disney District: Discounts at participating locations
• Magic Key Merchandise, Novelties, Menu Items and More: You will have the opportunity to purchase Magic Key holder-themed popcorn buckets, sippers and menu items throughout the year.
• Magic Key Disney PhotoPass Opportunities: Enjoy special photo spots and other opportunities sprinkled in throughout the year.
• Magic Key embroidery: Special options available for Magic Key holders at select locations in the parks
