The EPCOT monorail at Walt Disney World is scheduled to return to operation on Sunday, July 18. This line ceased operation when the resort originally closed in in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and never reopened when the rest of the resort reopened.
The change means that those staying at The Grand Floridian and Contemporary Resort will no longer need to take buses to the EPCOT and for those who want to head to EPCOT from Magic Kingdom will no longer need to drive over or take buses.
When service resumes, according to Disney, it will start one hour before EPCOT opens and will end one hour after the theme park closes.
As part of the change, direct bus service to EPCOT will no longer be available from these hotels (and effective dates):
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – July 25
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort – July 25
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort – mid-August
