California Grill to host special 50th-anniversary dining experience

The popular California Grill on top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be unavailable for bookings after Oct. 2 for a special dining experience that will be created specifically for the Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

No additional information has been released on what the special dining experience is coming.

The restaurant space is one of the oldest around Disney World. The space was called Top of the World Restaurant and Top of the World Lounge when it first opened on Oct. 1, 1971. From June 1981 through September 1993 it was also home to the “Broadway at the Top” dinner show. The Top of the World closed on Sept. 30, 1993.

In May 1995, the renovated space reopened as the California Grill.
