A breakdown of the new ‘Harmonious’ show coming to EPCOT

Disney is providing a special behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming new nighttime show at EPCOT.

“Harmonious” brings to life the vision of EPCOT through a celebration. A global community of musical artists has come together and reinterpreted familiar stories and songs in their own voice, honoring their respective cultures. y.

“The show is done in three acts,” Executive Creative Director Steven Davison said. “The first act is ‘Gathering.’ Where everyone is gathered around the World Showcase Lagoon.”

The show begins with a sunrise, and as the world awakens the journey goes across the globe, from the South Pacific home of “Moana” and a Middle-Eastern interpretation of “Aladdin” to “The Jungle Book” in India, China’s legend of “Mulan,” and the European nations that inspired “Brave” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

The characters are represented in silhouette “and we did that on purpose so you can put yourself into the role of the character,” Davison said.

The second act is “Celebration.” “Basically, it goes into the World Showcase pavilions,” he said. The act becomes a trip around the world.

The third act is “Unite.” It takes looks at how the world can be a united place “and really puts it front and center in the lagoon,” Davison said. And then you as the united family, come together

Here’s a first look at how this stunning spectacle is coming together, as teams from Disney Live Entertainment and Walt Disney Imagineering continue working to get “Harmonious” ready for opening night on Oct. 1.
