12 big things happening at Disney World in August 2021

A major attraction, a nighttime show, a resort, a lot of restaurants and entertainment are coming to Walt Disney World this August. And, the start of the Halloween season. Yes, the Halloween season.

Here are the 12 big things to watch for at Walt Disney World this August:

1. Hall of Presidents: The final touches are being placed on the Hall of Presidents as it will reopen sometime in August. No specific date has been announced yet. The reopening features the addition of President Joe Biden to the stage as the 46th President of the United States. The latest Audio-Animatronic will pair with the delivery of the presidential oath of office that was recorded at the White House by Biden.

2. Wonderful World of Animation returns: The “Wonderful World of Animation” returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Aug. 1. This cinematic nighttime experience leverages projection mapping technology to transform the park’s iconic Chinese Theater on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation. 

3. EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Entertainment: The 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival continues with live entertainment at the America Gardens Bandstand from Friday through Monday. Here is the upcoming dates and bands:

  • July 30 to August 2: Element 
  • August 6 to 9: Sound Society
  • August 13 to 16: The Hooligans
  • August 20 to 23: The Vybe
  • August 27 to 30: The M-80s

4. Pizzafari reopens: On Aug. 2 Pizzafari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopens. The area was used as a relaxation station for most of the pat year. In addition to the pizza, you can also order a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich, Green and Grains Salad, and a “Spaghetti and Meatball” Cupcake.

5. Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood reopens: On Aug. 5, Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort opens, with booking available on July 29. The signature Chuletón Bone-in Rib Eye with tomatoes, onions, and choice of two sides – is on the menu along with Char-grilled Steak with olive oil-potato purée, forest mushrooms, date jam, and sherry vinaigrette and the Rioja-braised Chicken with grapes, sherry vinegar, and roasted tomato bomba rice. The dark chocolate “Café con Leche” Choux also returns.

6. Yachtsman Steakhouse reopens: On. Aug. 5, the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort reopens with bookings starting to become available on July 29. In addition to the great steaks and chops, the Chilled Admiral’s Tower for Two (Maine lobster, snow crab, tuna tartare, jumbo shrimp, mussels, scallop ceviche, and charred octopus salad) is back as well as the signature creamy Lobster Bisque and the delicious Yachtsman’s Chocolate Cake for Two with dark chocolate mousse, chocolate decadence cake, mixed berry curd, peanut butter crunch, and mousse.

7. Columbia Harbour House reopens:  On Aug. 5, Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom reopens with all the seafood favorites including the Lobster Roll and Trio Platter with a combination of fried fish, fried shrimp, and chicken strips served with hushpuppies and french fries or green beans. 

8. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor returns: On Aug. 8, Mike Wazowski will begin welcoming back humans to the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom.

9. Disney After Hours Boo Bash kicks off: Halloween kicks off with the Disney After Hours Boo Bash kicking off on Aug. 10. The event is taking place on select nights through Oct. 31. The event includes special cavalcades, complimentary snacks, trick or treat areas and less lines for attractions.

10. Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage returns: On. Aug. 15, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The heartwarming tale of Belle and Beast will once again swirl to life in this lush stage performance.

11. Turtle Talk with Crush returns. On Aug. 21, you can again start asking all your undersea questions at EPCOT with everyone’s favorite turtle Crush as Turtle Talk with Crush returns at The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

12. Animal Kingdom Lodge reopens: The Animal Kingdom Lodge and Jambo House reopens on Aug. 26, 2021. This leaves only four resorts left to reopen.
