‘Standby’ added to wait lines on Disney World app. Is FastPass+ far behind?
There have been a lot of rumors going around about the return of FastPass+ in some form. Either back to the traditional format or a new pay option.
A glitch on the My Disney Experience App showing a button allowing people to select FastPasses have been around for some time.
And now, language of the wait times on the My Disney Experience App have changed to “Standby Wait” from “Wait.”
While this might seem to be a very small change, the language could be significant as Disney either returns or introduces a new system to the parks. The word addition signifies a specific type of line – the Standby Line. Opposed to a FastPass entrance, whether that is using the older system or a new virtual queue.
The idea of FastPass is to allow guests to avoid long lines on some attractions freeing them up to wait in lines for other attractions. This way guests were “guaranteed” to ride at least three of the “bigger” attractions.
Most other theme park resorts, such as Universal Orlando have instituted this system as well, but either require guests to pay extra for the Express Pass or get them if they are staying at a premium hotel at the resport.
No matter what Disney decides to do, it does appear that they are getting the infrastructure prepared to turn on the old system or a new one.
