The rebuilt monorail station is well underway and work is starting to take place on the high-pitched, open-truss roof that will be covered in a thatch style.

You can see the progress here on the resort’s entrance. The entire new monorail station will be closed and also refurbished during the work. Along the Monorail station, bold new wooden screens will be covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors.

The interior will also be refurbished to make it open and airy and will feature dramatic lighting elements, including chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets and oversized bamboo elements. The new chandeliers will match the existing grand chandelier in the resort lobby.

Work is also being done on the rooms in the Polynesian Village Resort with details, patterns and textures from Disney’s film “Moana.”

No specific date has been announced on the reopening other than in late July. However, we do know the signature restaurant ‘Ohana reopens on July 9.
