Disney World keeping mask policy for now in light of Gov. executive order
Walt Disney World has announced that it will maintain its current and health safety measures for now even though Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed an executive order immediately abolishing coronavirus measures enacted by local governments.
The resort is also encouraging all to get vaccinated.
The new legislation, which goes into effect July 1, and the executive orders give him sweeping powers to invalidate local emergency measures, including mask mandates, business limitations and the shuttering of schools.
While this means that Orange County’s coronavirus measures of requiring face masks indoors and physical distancing measures have been abolished, it has no impact on what private companies can do on private property.
Disney responded with a note on the My Disney Experience app stating:
“We are aware of the state of Florida’s plans announced today to modify COVID-19 guidelines. We will evaluate this latest guidance and maintain our current health and safety measures at the this time, including face covering requirements. We will continue to make thoughtful adjustments to our policy. As COVID-19 vaccines become available we encourage people to get vaccinated.”
