Disney Imagineer gives us a look inside the new Creations Shop in EPCOT

Renovating the new Creations Shop, the new main gift shop at EPCOT, requires restoring an existing building using the original geometry.

And we are getting a look from Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley at the work taking place. The shop should be open by this summer.

As you can see in some of these original drawings and building sections, the space was always intended to be open and give flexibility to the program featured inside. We are bringing that openness back into our new designs as part of our new EPCOT aesthetic,” he wrote.

“All our structural elements radiate from a center point at the heart of World Celebration. By simplifying the facades and emphasizing the beams between the columns – we will create uninterrupted lines that draw your eye from front to back. And these ‘beams’ also give us space to integrate lighting and air conditioning for a seamless and functional look to the space,” he wrote.  
 

The Creations Shop is replacing MouseGear as the new flagship merchandise location in EPCOT. The new store is being redesigned to be an open, bright environment with huge glass walls that allow sunlight to pour in and make you feel like you’re in touch with nature even while indoors.

The new theme falls in line with the reimagining of EPCOT. Future World is being turned into three areas, World Discovery, World Celebration and World Nature.
