Photos, Videos: New baby mandrill born at Disney World

It’s a girl! A female baby mandrill was born this week at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to first-time mom Hazel.

The healthy baby, named Ivy, was born on April 10, 2021, and can already be seen with mom on the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction.

This is a huge birth for Walt Disney World. This now means there are four generations of mandrills from the same family living at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This mirrors the social system of mandrills found in the wild.

Mandrills mostly live in tropical rainforests. Their diets consist of mostly fruits and insects. They live in troops that can number in groups as large as 200.
