Disneyland reopening: King Arthur Carrousel refurbishment
When Disneyland reopens on April 30 guests will find that one of the original attractions as received a refurbishment.
The King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland will now have new sparkling 14 gold leaf accents added. In addition, each of the 68 horses were repainted by hand with more than 30 colors used. The jewels that are and jewels were also reset, Imagineer Kim Irvine said.
When Disneyland first opened in 1955, the carrousel was deemed the focal point of Fantasyland. The canopy, which had been painted numerous times over the years, was repainted back to its original colors of white and purple with some magenta, Irvine said. The shields, which represent each of the Knights of The Roundtable, have also received a refreshing.
