Disney CEO Chapek addresses cast members at reopening of Disneyland
Just prior to the gates of Disneyland opening for the first time in more than a year today, Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek participated in the daily ceremony to raise the American flag.
“For 412 days our park had been closed. And throughout that whole time, with virtually no days missed, this color guard has raised that flag in honor of our country and to provide some sense of hope that the Disneyland Resort could open up again.
“And, I want to thank the color guard and security team for doing that every day and be that beacon of hope for all of us.”
Chapek went on to thank the cast members for their work. “But I would also like to thank all of our cast members because your spirit, your persistence, your patience in trying to get us back to a position where we can open up is very much appreciated., But, it’s most appreciated by the throngs of guests that are outside waiting to come in because we’re not just another place, we’re not just another theme park, we’re something special and we’re something special because of all of you. Because you bring magic to the world.”
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure reopened with a newly reimagined Snow White’s Enchanted Wish; an enchanted Haunted Mansion experience and refurbished King Arthur’s Carrousel.
The Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are welcoming guests back to the magic with a phased reopening. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopened on April 29, 2021, with limited capacity. Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa plan to reopen May 2. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel will reopen at a later date.
Due to the health and safety measures, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is now only open to California residents.
