Sneak eat: A first taste of the new Boathouse brunch coming Feb. 21

The Boathouse at Disney Springs is introducing a Captain’s Sing Along Brunch Sunday, Feb. 21, with a new menu and dueling pianos as entertainment.

When we headed over for an early lunch today, we got a look and taste at what might be the new menu. The server said he did not know if this would to be the final menu or if it will change before next week. The menu we were given featured five cocktails, including a delicious Expresso Martini, eight entrees, a couple of junior meals and a number of sides. The full menu is below.

We started off with a Pearmosa and an Espresso Martini. The Pearmosa, made of Kopparberg Pear Cider and White Peach Puree, had a fresh pear taste and wasn’t too strong. The martini tasted a bit like an iced coffee, spiked of course. It also was refreshing.

For our entrees we ordered Shrimp and Grits and the Jumo Lump Crabcakes Benedict. The Shrimp and Grits was plentiful. The Spice Cheddar Beer Cheese grits enveloped the shrimp and the Andoullie Sausage. I ordered the eggs over easy; one yolk was completely cooked, but the other yolk was runny and when mixed with the grits brought out the creamy taste even more.

The Jumbo Lump Crabcakes Benedict contains two smaller version of the restaurant’s regular entree crab cake, which is always a favorite of ours. These are packed with crab meat and not a lot of filler. Topping the cakes were prosciutto ham and perfectly poached eggs with tangy Hollandaise Sauce. One the side is grilled asparagus.

Also, don’t forget to ask for the bread rolls, which are drizzled with with a honey icing.

If the menu stands as is, or even slightly altered, I can see this being a Sunday tradition.
