Photos: Disney shares update of new ‘Harmonius’ at EPCOT
Disney has recently been working on programming various elements of the new nighttime show spectacular “Harmonius”, from media and fountains to lighting and pyrotechnics, in a virtual environment. All while the physical items are being tested at EPCOT.
The show will take place on five floating platforms on World Showcase Lagoon. Positioned like a compass, these platforms house the primary show equipment for “Harmonious,” and on the recently-placed center platform stands six-story-tall central ring structure, supporting a high-density water curtain, moving lights, fountains and more.
No dates for when the new show will premiere have been announced but there is a lot of speculation it could coincide with Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration kicking off on Oct. 1, 2021.
“Early in our plans for the transformation of EPCOT, we recognized the power and potential this new show has to tell a story of global connection and celebration. This grand, original spectacular is a tribute to the power of story and song that unite us, leveraging music and visuals from across Disney and artists around the world,” Zach Riddley, Walt Disney World Site Portfolio Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering, wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.
As the technical crews from Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment have been working on the technical aspects. Music producers at Imagineering have been remotely directing recording sessions.
The show is being touted as one of the largest nighttime spectaculars Disney has ever produced.
