Brother-sister duo sweep Springtime Surprise 10-miler race

A rare feat of family athleticism unfolded at Walt Disney World on Sunday, April 6, as brother and sister Stephen and Elizabeth Fengler of Wallingford, Conn., both claimed victory in the ‘Incredibles’-themed runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler.

Inspired by their shared love for the Disney-Pixar film, “The Incredibles,” the duo transformed the race into a personal triumph, making runDisney history by simultaneously winning the male and female divisions. The 10-mile course, winding through EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, became a testament to their “incredible” running prowess.

“I’ve always wanted to do a runDisney race, and the ‘Incredibles’ theme was just perfect,” Elizabeth Fengler explained. “We decided to go for it and see what we could do.”

And “go for it” they did. Stephen Fengler completed the course in an impressive 58 minutes and 23 seconds, even pausing for brief photo opportunities with Disney characters along the way. He finished ahead of Nicholas Jollye of Orlando, Fla (58:39) and Joseph Russo of Elgin, Ill. (58:48). Elizabeth Fengler crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 56 seconds, securing a decisive victory over Kelly Harris of Winter Garden, Fla. (1:05:46) and Reagan Olivastro of Unionville, Conn. (1:07:38). Each sibling received an ‘Incredibles’-themed finishers’ medal.

In the wheelchair division, Heather Sealover of Clermont, Fla., dominated the race, finishing in 45 minutes and 29 seconds. Nicholas McCoy (54:17) and Linden Williamson (55:21), both from Boerne, Texas, followed her.

The 10-miler capped off a weekend of running events, including a 5K, 10K, the three-race challenge, and a yoga session.

This Springtime Surprise 10-Miler was the final event of the runDisney race season. Runners now eagerly anticipate the start of the next season with the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, scheduled for September 4-7.
