It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets as the 45-year-old classic show comes to Disney+.
Starting Feb. 19, 2021, all five seasons will be available on the streaming service, including season 4 and 5, which was not previously available on home entertainment.
The variety show, featuring comedy sketches, songs and guest performances first debuted in September 1976 and introduced us to all the Muppets and some fun recurring sketches such as “Pigs in Space,” “Musical Chickens” “Muppet Labs,” “Muppet Melodrama” and of course, “The Swedish Chef.”
The guest stars who appeared over the years was a who’s who of entertainment during the time, including: Steve Martin, Elton John, Liza Minelli, Alice Cooper, Julie Andrews, Bernadette Peters, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Gene Kelly and more. Mark Hamill appeared in one episode as both himself and Luke Skywalker.
It might be time to start sending out invitations to a couple of watch parties.
