Hong Kong Disneyland temporarily closing for third time due to COVID-19
Honk Kong Disneyland is temporarily closing starting the end of Dec. 1 due to government regulations, the company announced today.
“As required by the government and in line with preventive efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close beginning December 2. We are in close contact with health authorities and the government about the situation and will announce a reopening date once they determine it is advisable. The park is also scheduled to close today (December 1).”
This is the third time the theme park has closed due to the rising cases of the coronavirus.
The closing comes after Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced a number of new COVID-19 measures following a surge in cases. As of Nov. 13, the city had recorded 76 new cases.
Lam announced at a press conference that Hong Kong’s civil servants will begin working from home starting Dec. 2. At the same time restrictions were imposed on public gatherings and diners per table were restricted to two.
This closing means that three Disney Parks around the world will be closed, including Disneyland Paris, which again temporarily closed on Oct. 30 due to a resurgence in France and Disneyland in California, which has never reopened after closing in March.
This leaves only three of the Disney Parks around the world operating: Walt Disney World in Florida, Shanghai Disney Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort.
