Disney World is making it clear what happens if you don’t wear a face mask

Walt Disney World is now making it clearer that if you don’t wear a face mask properly, you will be kicked out.

A new sign has appeared at the theme parks stating: “Guests not properly wearing an approved mask will be asked to leave.”

Face coverings have always been a must since Walt Disney World first reopened in July. The mask rules have evolved, first clarifying the type of approved masks (no gaiters or valves allowed), then when you are allowed to take the masks off (only when actively eating or drinking when stationary) and that you need to keep masks on even when taking photos.

Disney has even created a special crew of cast members to walk around the theme parks to remind people. This is in addition to backing all cast members to remind guests.

The mask rules have been so strict that if a person were to take a mask off on a ride and an attraction photo is taken, that photo will not be made public.

Here are the face covering rules at Walt Disney World:

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you should be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

  • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
  • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.
