Polynesian Resort’s Grand Ceremonial House refurbishment starts Sept. 28

Refurbishment of Disney’s Polynesian Resort’s Great Ceremonial House will begin Sept. 28, 2020, when the front desk will be relocated to the Pago Pago building, WDWMagic.com is reporting.

Access to the building will be available from the side and back locations only.

The Great Ceremonial House and the rooms in the Polynesian Village Resort are moving to a “Pacific Ocean-inspired color palette as well as details, patterns and textures” from Disney’s film “Moana.” Th main village resort will reopen in summer 2021. The Disney Vacation Club’s Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will remain open during the renovation.

The food and shopping locations in the Great Ceremonial House – Kona Cafe, Moana Mercantile, Tambu Lounge, and Pineapple Lanai – will remain open during the renovation, but will have modified hours starting Oct. 4.

The monorail station and monorail service to the resort will close beginning in early October due to the construction.
