First canopy pieces of Tron attraction set into place at Magic Kingdom

The first of nearly 40 pieces of a permanent canopy is set in place today, Sept., 15, 2020, for the new TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction coming to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

The dramatic “curved wave” canopy will be the Upload Conduit portion of the roller-coaster-style attraction, which is destined to become a stunning addition to the skyline in Tomorrowland.

Below you can see that the outdoor track will be covered by the canopy.

The new coaster being built in next to Space Mountain is based on Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run.  Guests will board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles that will take them inside and outside the attraction’s building, reaching speeds of nearly 60 miles. The ride lasts about two minutes.
