Disney Cruise Line cancels departures through December
The Disney Cruise Line has extended the suspension of all departures through at least Dec. 6, 2020, the company posted on its website.
“As we continue to refine health and safety protocols for our future return to service and await direction from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Disney Cruise Line has decided to further extend its suspension of new sailings.
“Sailings are cancelled on board the Disney Fantasy through December 6; the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder through December 11; and the Disney Magic through December 12,” the company reported.
Those who were booked on those and have paid their reservation in full will be offered the choice of a cruise credit to be used for a future sailing or a full refund. Those who have not paid their reservations in full will automatically receive a refund of what they have paid so far. Affected Guests and travel agents will receive an email from Disney Cruise Line outlining details and next steps.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek earlier in the year acknowledged that the cruise ship business will probably be the last of the travel-oriented business to come back online, but he believes the brand is so strong people will return.
Last week, Christine McCarthy, Chief Financial Officer for The Walt Disney Company, said the new Disney Wish ship will be delayed due to the closure of the shipyards.
