Man charged with hitting Epcot guard over theme park face mask rule
An Orlando man has been charged with a misdemeanor battery for hitting an Epcot security guard after the guard reminded the man he needed to follow Walt Disney World’s mask rules, according to reports.
The man reportedly was visiting Disney World when he arrived at the security and was informed by a guard that the family was wearing “improper masks.” The family went to their car and then returned to security, but one of the children’s masks still did not follow the Disney rules, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.
The father then got into an argument with the security guard and as the security guard was calling a supervisor the man allegedly stuck the guard in the face with his open hand, the newspaper reports.
The man told authorities said nothing more happened than an argument. Three witnesses said the man became irate and hit the security guard.
