Florida lifts New York, New Jersey, Connecticut travel restrictions
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis today lifted the travel restrictions imposed on those coming to Florida from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
The reversal of the travel restrictions opens up residents of three states which supply numerous vacationers to the state of Florida, specifically to Walt Disney World.
However, Florida remains on all of those three state’s travel restrictions lists. Meaning those who return from Florida would need to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The Florida restrictions were placed into effect by DeSantis on March 23 when the Tri-State area was dealing with a surge in coronavirus cases. Those who were coming from the Tri-State area were told to self-quarantine for two weeks.
Since that time, that situation has changed. Florida saw its positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average spike over 10%, which is the threshold being used for the New York- area stated.
Today, Florida reported an additional 7,650 cases and 120 deaths. This places the statewide total to 510,389 infected and 7,747 fatalities.
The positivity rate for today is 8.34%, the lowest it has been in Florida since June 24,. Today’s rate brings past seven-day rolling average rate to 10%.
