Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort reopening pushed to summer 2021

Walt Disney World has pushed back the reopening of the Polynesian Village Resort to summer 2021 from Oct. 4, 2020, according to a Disney’s website.

The change in reopening the resort is taking place as Disney World said last week it is ready to reduce the hours of operation at its parks by one to two hours after Labor Day Weekend. No official attendance numbers have been released, but the income from the hospitality indsutry has taken a major hit in Florida due to the ongoing coronavirus.

Last week, Disney said it would be ready to increase capacity and Gov. Ron DeSantis said he would be for that. However, Disney, as well as Universal and Sea World, said the difficulty they are having to convince travelers that the theme parks and resorts are safe.

Even though the Polynesian Village Resort is not reopening until next year, there are still plenty of resorts and rooms that are open and available at Disney World. There are still 16 resorts open, most of those Disney Vacation Club properties, and three more resorts are scheduled to reopen by the end of the year. Two resorts – Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn – will be closed until further notice.
