Photo: First look at character physical distancing cruise at Animal Kingdom
As the countdown continues toward the reopening of Walt Disney World theme parks, Jeff Vahle, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, shared a photo illustrating one method in which characters and performers will be seen at Animal Kingdom.
The area where the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular takes place will have characters and performers at times on the boats motoring around the lake during the day to allow people to see the characters while maintaining physical distancing to the guests and will also allow guests to maintain physical distancing from each other.
When Disney Word reopens, there will be no parades, fireworks, shows or character meet and greets to keep physical distancing among guests. However, characters and performers still will be seen around the parks, Disney has said. There are a number of ways for this to take place.
Stormtroopers can be seen at Disney Springs as they remind people to physical distance while standing atop buildings. Universal Orlando has brought out parade floats at various times with characters. Guests were allowed to stand in front of the floats for selfies and photos with the characters standing behind them.
This week there will be cast previews and an Annual Passholder previews for Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. Both Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom will open on July 11. Epcot and Hollywood Studios will open on July 15.
