Disneyland Paris reopens, Hong Kong Disneyland closes again

Disneyland Paris started its phased reopening today, July 15, giving France an economic boost, at the same time Hong Kong Disneyland again closed down due to uptick in coronavirus cases in its country.

Disneyland Paris welcomed guests back, marking the occasion this morning in a special reopening ceremony. The special re-opening moment was hosted by Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, on Main Street, U.S.A. with Sleeping Beauty Castle as a backdrop alongside Disney characters in the company of cast members, including “Magic Keepers” who cared for the resort during the closure.

“This much-anticipated day is the result of an incredible team effort, from our cast members who are at the heart of the magic of our resort, to our public partners who have continued to provide us with invaluable support,” Natacha Rafalski said. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter at Disneyland Paris, where giving our guests the opportunity to share happy moments with family and friends has never been more meaningful.”

Disneyland Paris reopens with all the health and safety measures that have been rolled out at other Disney parks around the world, including the wearing of face coverings, physical distancing markers and a park reservation system.

About 6,000 miles away, Hong Kong Disneyland, had reopened on June 18 with new health and safety measures, but due to the rise in new coronavirus cases , which had been open for nearly a month again closed down due to the coronavirus after the government shut down certain operations due to the rising cases in the country.

“As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15,” a Disney(DIS) spokesperson said.

The hotels at the Hong Kong Disneyland resort will remain open with “adjusted levels of services,” according to Disney.

“They have put in place enhanced health and safety measures that reflect the guidance of health and government authorities, such as social distancing measures and increased cleaning and sanitization,” the statement read.
