Disney indefinitely postpones ‘Mulan,’ other films pushed back
Disney announced that it has indefinitely postponed the release of “Mulan” as concerns take place over the rising coronavirus cases that have been taking place in the U.S.
This take place hours after AMC theaters announced its plans to reopen its U.S. theaters at the end of August.
“Mulan” was to hit the screens on Aug. 21, but this fourth delay takes it off the schedule completely.
“Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for Mulan as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world,” according to a statement from Disney.
Other changes on the Disney schedule include:
- “The Personal History of David Copperfield” moving to Aug. 28.
- “Death on the Nile” is now on for Oct. 23.
- “The Empty Man” will arrive on Dec. 4.
- “The French Dispatch” is off the schedule.
- “Antlers” is now on for Feb. 19, 2021.
- “The Last Duel” is on for Oct. 15, 2021.
- An untitled Disney Live Action film will take the place of “Avatar 2” on Dec. 16, 2021.
- “Avatar 2” is pushed to Dec. 16, 2022.
- Untitled Star Wars is moved to Dec. 22, 2023.
- “Avatar 3” is now on for Dec. 20, 2024.
- Untitled Star Wars is moved to Dec. 19, 2025.
- “Avatar 4” is on for Dec. 18, 2026.
- Untitled Star Wars film is moved to Dec. 17, 2027.
- “Avatar 5” is now scheduled for Dec. 22, 2028.
