Key dates in Disney World, Disneyland’s reopening timeline

As Disney prepares to reopen Disneyland and Walt Disney World there a number of things Disney and some major resorts near Disney needs to do to prepare for the what’s to come.

This includes bringing back cast members, preparing areas for social distancing, testing rides, and preparing resorts. The one big question that still exists for many is the new reservation system Disney is going to roll out. There is no indication when that announcement will be made, but it should be soon

To put everything in one place, we collected all the dates that were made public, so we can all follow along. We will update this as more information is released. Here’s what’s to come:

June 14: Some food and beverage handlers and cast members return to work at Walt Disney World.

June 15: Disney’s Vero Beach in Florida and Disney’s Hilton Head Beach Resort in South Carolina reopen. And, the Coca-Cola Store at Disney Springs in Disney World reopens.

June 17: Chef Arts Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs reopening.

June 18: Hong Kong Disneyland reopens.

June 18: Those who hotel reservations at Walt Disney World for arrivals June 22 through July 10, 2020, can start making dining reservations.

June 21: More Walt Disney World cast members are recalled back to work.

June 22:  Walt Disney World Resort and other select hotel Guests with valid theme park admission can start making theme park reservations using the new reservations system.

June 22: Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World reopens including:

  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
  • Disney’s Beach Club Villas
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
  • The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

June 26:  Annual Passholders without a resort stay can start making theme park reservations at Walt Disney World using the new reservations system for up to 3 days at a time.

June 28: Existing ticket holders can start making Walt Disney Word theme park reservations using the new reservations system.

June 28: Guests can start making reservations for new Walt Disney World resort hotel packages and theme park tickets for arrivals starting 2021.

July 1: The Four Seasons Resort Orlando, near Fort Wilderness and Golden Oak and Bonnet Creek resorts, Hilton Bonnet Creek and Waldorf Astoria reopen.

July 7: NBA starts traveling to Disney World set up for a new season.

July 8: MLS restarts its season at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.

July 9: Downtown Disney District in Disneyland reopens.

July 9-10: Annual Passholder previews for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

July 10: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort open

July 11: Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World reopen

July 15: Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World reopen.

July 15: Disneyland Park, Walt Disney Studios Park, Disney’s Newport Bay Club Hotel and Disney Village reopen.

July 17: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort reopen.

July 20: Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne at Disneyland Paris reopens.

 July 23: Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort reopen.

July 29: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin opens for those with new reservations. (MLS players and coaches will have already been staying since the beginning of July.)

July 29: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort reopens.

July 30: Restart of NBA season at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World.

August 3: Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe at Disneyland Paris reopens.

August 12: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort reopen.

August 24: Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts reopen.

September 7: Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris reopens.

September 21: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reopens.

October 1: Disney’s BoardWalk Resort reopens.

October 14: Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort reopens.
