As Disney World reopens, when will Florida lift the Tri-State quarantine?

As Walt Disney World theme parks set to reopen on July 11 and other theme parks and attractions have slowly reopened seeking vacationers to help bolster their business, there is one segment of traveler that could find themselves out of luck. Those from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

As of now, all individuals entering the state of Florida from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York must isolate or self-quarantine themselves for a period of 14 days, or for the duration of their presence in the state, whichever is shorter.

Airport screenings and roadside checkpoints on major interstates into Florida have been set up to check for potential COVID-19 cases. There is also some contact tracing questions taking place for those entering the state.

The state of Louisiana was originally on the list, but Gov. Ron DeSantis took the state off the list early last week.

As Connecticut, New Jersey and New York start to move into their phased reopenings and the overall health of the three states get better, Florida might reconsider removing the three states from the list, also taking into account a large amount of visitors to Florida come from that area.

DeSantis has said that all decisions on the reopening of Florida will be “thoughtful” and “data driven.”

If you are planning on visiting Florida from the Tri-State Area, check with your travel operator for advice, keep checking back with your local health department and the State of Florida Department of Health’s website here, for updates. And, most important, stay safe.
