2 Disney Springs restaurants plan on layoffs, cuts to employee hours
Two Disney Springs restaurants will be laying off 143 employees and severely reducing hours of 128 employees effective Aug. 1, 2020, according to WARN notices filed with the state.
Levy Restaurants, which operates the Paddlefish and Terralina Crafted Italian Restaurant, says the lower than normal business and the long-term cancellation of large events due to COVID-19 are reasons for the cuts.
Paddlefish will be laying off 87 people and reducing hours of 74 employees. Terralina Crafted Italian will layoff 56 people and reducing hours of 54 employees, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Notices, which are required to be filed before massive layoffs take place.
The reduction in hours will be by 50% or more for the next six months until business improves, according to the notice.
The cuts impacts everyone from chefs to servers to bartenders to hosts.
“While terminations are permanent, all terminated team members have been invited to apply for future employment as positions become available when business levels return following the pandemic,” the company states.
