Walt Disney World SVP: July resort bookings does not mean it’s opening

Even though Walt Disney World is taking bookings for July 1 that doesn’t mean Disney will begin operating in July, Walt Disney World Senior VP Thomas Mazloum told the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force.

Just as Mazloum told the group about the June 1 booking dates, he reiterated that during the Tuesday morning meeting.

“Allow me to clarify. We have taken reservations for July but that should not mean we are operating in July, yet. As you all saw on the news yesterday, we’ve opened up Shanghai which went extremely well. We were very prudent, we were very, very conservative. Things went extremely well, but at this point, we have really nothing to report about Walt Disney World yet,” Mazloum said.

Mazloum overseeing operations for Transportation, Resorts and Premium Experiences. He reports to Walt Disney World President Josh D’Amaro, who was a member of the state re-opening task force.

Disney will star a phased reopening of Disney Springs beginning on May 20, 2020.

“As we have said continuously, we will allow data to guide us, as well as the governments on a specific date,” Mazloum said.
