Universal Orlando expected to present reopening plans Thursday to county task force
Universal Orlando is expected to present their reopening plans on Thursday to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings’ Economic Recovery Task Force, according to the county.
It was originally believed that Universal, Walt Disney World and Sea World would appear before the panel, however, a Disney spokesperson told WESH 2 News that Disney does not have a date to appear before the task force.
The discussion is scheduled to take place Thursday afternoon. The presentations are expected to have projected opening dates, county spokeswoman Despina McLaughlin said.
Executives from all three theme parks are members of the task force.
Last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis said that the theme-park operators could begin reopening once they submit plans for local approval. Once they are approved locally, the plans would then be sent to the governor’s office. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said last week that he would think the resorts would not be opening until June or later.
Walt Disney today reopened a portion of Disney Springs with the use of temperature checks and requiring face masks and social distancing. Universal opened its CityWalk dining and shopping center last week.
