First baby babirusa piglet born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World welcomes its first baby babirusa piglet born to the park.

The little girl is named Kirana, which translates to “sunbeam” in Indonesian, Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President, Animals, Science and Environment, Disney Parks, wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.

Babirusas are part of the hog family, native to the swamps and rainforests of the Indonesian Islands, most notably on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi  They’re known for their unique snouts and magnificent tusks that can grow up to almost 17 inches.

According to Penning, the piglet is healthy and bonding with mom, Betty, inside their den.
