Disney World to present reopening plans Wednesday morning, May 27

Walt Disney World plans to present its reopening plans to an Orange County task force Wednesday morning.

The announcement came during a news conference on Tuesday by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.

Disney World confirmed this with a statement later saying: “Walt Disney World will submit a proposal tomorrow, May 27, to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida for a phased reopening of the resort’s theme parks.”

In addition to Disney World, SeaWorld is also scheduled to present its plans.

Demings said he previewed the plans. “We are looking forward to sharing good news about their plans,” Demings said.

The parks were visited Tuesday by officials from Orange County and the Florida Department of Health to determine the parks were in compliance with the recommended guidelines .

The task force meets virtually at 10 a.m. and meetings are broadcast on Orange TV.

If Demings endorses plans they will then be sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis for final approval.

Many questions people have had concerning the reopening include if facemasks and temperature checks will be required (which they most likely will since Universal Studios will be implementing them), but will people need to reserve the day to go into the park as is being done in Shanghai Disneyland.
