Tokyo Disneyland extends closure, next announcement expected mid-May

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea which has been planning to reopen April 20 has been again extended in light of the increasing spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and in response to the requests from the Japanese government and local authorities. 

“The reopening date will be determined in mid-May, after which a new announcement will be sent out,” according to the Tokyo Disney Resort website.

Additionally, the opening of the Tokyo Disneyland Expansion new area, originally scheduled for April 15, has been postponed and will be determined and announced once the parks have reopened.

The resort originally closed on Feb. 29 and first had a March 16 reopening date, which was then moved back to April 20.
