JetBlue to require passengers to wear face masks starting May 4
JetBlue will be the first U.S. airline to require passengers to wear face masks starting May 4, 2020.
The new policy is one of many things several U.S. airlines are doing to keep passengers safe in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, JetBlue will be the first U.S. airline to require passengers to wear face masks during check-in, boarding, in-flight and during disembarkation.
Small children who are not able to maintain a face covering will be exempt from the requirement.
“This is the new flying etiquette,” JetBlue president Joanna Geraghty said in a prepared statement. “Onboard, cabin air is well circulated and cleaned through filters every few minutes, but this is a shared space where we have to be considerate of others.”
JetBlue, American, Frontier and United airlines already require flight attendants to wear face masks.
