Hong Kong Disneyland testing Disney Character dining

As Disney slowly moves to reopen its theme parks around the world that were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Shanghai Disney and Hong Kong Disneyland resorts have been taking baby steps to reopen.

Both resorts were closed indefinitely in January – Shanghai on Jan. 25 and Hong Kong on Jan. 26 – as the novel coronavirus spread. Slowly both resorts have been moving forward now to reopen.

On March 9, the Shanghai Disney Resort resumed partial operations with a limited number of shopping, dining, and recreational experiences available in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. Each of these resort locations are operating under limited capacity and reduced hours of operation. Every guest entering Shanghai Disney Resort is undergoing temperature screening procedures and present their Shanghai QR Code. Guests must wear a mask during their entire visit (except when dining), and will also be reminded to maintain respectful social distances at all times while in stores, queues and restaurants.

Now, Hong Kong Disneyland, which is still closed, is testing a character meal at the Enchanted Garden Restaurant at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

Below are are some photos from a Hong Kong Disneyland blogger and a video.

According to the resort’s website: “From April 30 to May 3, 2020, the Enchanted Garden Restaurant at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will offer ‘all you can eat’ lunch and dinner. Guests will be able to enjoy lunch from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM or dinner from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. … What’s more, enjoy special appearances by our popular Disney Characters from time to time and snap some photos of them from your table to capture the happy moment. ”

This could be one way for Disney to start working out procedures that might be used at other parks, including Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
