Photos: A look inside Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios in Disney World opens to the public on March 4, capping a multi-year transformation of the Chinese Theater to bring guests into the world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon.

On this ride, Disney touts, “mouse rules apply” and anything can happen.

There are no height restrictions for this family-friendly ride that ushers guests into the theater for the premiere of a new Mickey Mouse cartoon short called “Perfect Picnic.”

In the story, Mickey and Minnie set off on a journey to find the best spot for a romantic picnic, taking their little red convertible for a drive through Runnamuck Park.

Little do they know Pluto has accidentally stowed away in the trunk of their car, so when the roadster hits a bump and the dutiful dog flies out.

Here is where the guests are then brought through the movie screen and into the cartoon world where they join Engineer Goofy on a train ride on the Runnamuck Railroad, following Mickey and Minnie through the park on their quest for that perfect picnic.

The journey includes a stampede through the Wild West, a visit to a carnival, having to avoid a swirling twister, escaping an exploding volcano and even, gulp, diving over a waterfall.

Mickey and Minnie are going to try and help keep you out of trouble, all while Pluto tries to catch up with the picnic basket.
