Disney World temporarily closing due to the coronavirus

Walt Disney World Resort announced it will temporarily close effective Monday, March 16 due to the coronavirus.

The last day the park will be open is Sunday, March 15. The parks are closing at least through the end of the month. They are scheduled to reopen April 1.

The hotels will remain open until further notice. Disney Springs will also stay open as well, Disney announced.

“In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of our theme parks,” Disney said in a statement. “We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.”

Disney World employees will continue to be paid during this time, Disney said.

In addition to Disney World closing, Disneyland Paris Resort will also close at the end of business on March 15.

The Disney Cruise Line will suspend all the new departures beginning Saturday, March 14 through the end of the month.

Earlier today, Disneyland announced it was closing temporarily as well.
