Coronavirus preparation: 9 Disney songs to sing when washing hands

Handwashing is an easy, cheap, and effective way to prevent the spread of germs and keep kids and adults healthy, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

This is one habit all should have and should be done after using the bathroom, before eating, after touching pets, after playing outside, and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.

Washing your hands often with soap and water is one of the seven items recommendations made by the CDC for the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). (Here’s the complete list).

But you need to make sure that you are washing your hands correctly (see graphic below). One of the key factors is the length of time you should scrub your hands. The CDC says 20 seconds and recommends humming or singing “Happy Birthday” twice. But why not keep yourself in the Disney spirit when washing up. Here are nine songs to sing or hum when washing your hands that are at least 20 seconds long. No speeding through, take it slow and sing it with some feeling.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Pretend your hands have gotten wet when on Splash Mountain and scrub along to this:

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My oh my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay

Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s actual
Everything is satisfactual

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day

Let it Go

This one needs to be sung with some feeling and those long notes.

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don’t care what they’re going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway

Winnie The Pooh

This refrain should be sung twice.

Winnie The Pooh, Winnie The Pooh
Chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff
He’s Winnie The Pooh, Winnie The Pooh
Willy, nilly, silly old bear

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

The important part of this section is to make sure you sing those Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-Is.

It’s supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You’ll always sound precocious
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I
Um-dittle-ittl-um-dittle-I

It’s a small world

You didn’t think we would forget about this one, did you?

It’s a world of laughter
A world of tears
It’s a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There’s so much that we share
That it’s time we’re aware
It’s a small world after all It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small, small world

One Little Spark

Follow the bouncing Figment.

One little spark, of inspiration
Is at the heart, of all creation
Right at the start, of everything that’s new
One little spark, lights up for you

Imagination! Imagination!
A dream, can be a dream come true
With just that spark, in me and you

Under the Sea

Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain’t happy
They sad ’cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who’s gon’ be on the plate?
Under the sea
Under the sea

Hakuna Matata

Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain’t no passing craze

It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It’s our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
