Cirque du Soleil temporarily suspending previews of new Disney show due to coronavirus

Cirque du Soleil is temporarily suspending the start of preview performances of the upcoming “Drawn to Life” at Disney Springs for an undetermined amount of time, the company announced today.

The previews were to begin March 20 and the show, focusing on the history of Disney animation, was to debut April 17.

This action follows the postponement of numerous Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group shows worldwide in recent days and takes into consideration the most current recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the escalation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the company stated.

“Our priority has always been, and remains, the health and safety of our artists, our partners, our employees and our audiences.  We will continue to monitor and assess the situation to determine when the show previews will start,” the company stated in a new release.

Customers who purchased tickets for an impacted performance will be contacted by their point of sale.

Disney World has closed all of its stores at Disney Springs, its retail, entertainment and shopping complex. Most, if not all of the other stores and restaurants have announced they will also be closing.

“Drawn to Life” is a live acrobatic journey telling the story of Julie, a determined girl who discovers an unexpected gift left by her Disney animator father: an unfinished animation. As she dives into the inner world of animation, Julie embarks on an inspiring quest guided by a surprising pencil and filled with her childhood Disney memories.
